Finessin' Phenom, Cody Meyer joins Ultimate Bass University Tue, August 17th...
Ultimate Bass Radio's Kent Brown is bringing FLW pro Cody Meyer out from Grass Valley, fresh off his second place finish at the Forrest Wood Cup just a week ago.
Cody has already had an illustrious career at a pretty tender age- a Stren Series Angler of the Year title under his belt, and stands to catch Brent Ehrler in teh National Guard Western Division this year in addition to last weekend's performance.
He is a force to be reckoned with for spotted bass and finesse fishing, and he's laying it all out on the table for us August 17th at 6:30 here at the shop. It's our usual free-for-all, so swing by, bring a friend, grab a snack and relax with some fishin' buddies.

It's time for the Snag Proof Frog Tournament (and frog fishing in general), so who better could visit for this month's Ultimate Bass University than Delta legend, Bobby Barrack?! PLUS, we get the inside scoop on his Al-E-Baby swimbaits. If we're lucky, he'll give a little insight into how he went about catching that near-record smallie during Kent Brown's media day on Lake Pardee a couple of years ago!

Swap Meet 2010- A Huge Success!
What a great day! A huge thank you to all of our swappers and shoppers from this year's Boater's Swap Meet. We cleared out a couple of outboard motors, a TON of tackle, several electric trolling motors, and rods & reels galore. A number of swappers cleared upwards of $200 for their gently loved treasures, Cassidy did pretty well on BBQ tips, even for the recessionary economy, and we had a line outside well before our doors opened for business. The enthusiasm and comradarie were second to none- it was such a joy to host the event. We'll see you next year for Swap Meet 2011!
ULTIMATE BASS UNIVERSITY HITS THE DELTA APRIL 20TH, 6:30PM
Meet Gene Buchholz (we're astonished if you haven't already), of Oakley's Hook, Line & Sinker pro shop. He's our next speaker for Ultimate Bass University on April 20th at 6:30PM, and we couldn't be more thrilled!
Gene is known far and wide as one of the great Delta experts- he has proven himself time and again on the tournament trail, and is the go-to guy for anyone passing through Oakley on their way to launch from Bethel Island- a little tackle, a little info, and off they go to catch some monster fish!
Join us on Tuesday for an outstanding introduction to Delta fishing- one of the most enviable and one of the most intimidating fishin' holes in the nation!

Ultimate Bass University happens this Tuesday, the 16th (yes, already a month has gone by- unbelievable)!
Hot on the heels of the Sacramento Boat Show, we have a special night planned with THREE swimbait specialists. We get our own "Big Bait Posse" this Tuesday at 6:30PM with Kent Brown, Preston Henson and Russ Graves to talk swimbait technique for ALL levels.
This is the perfect event for those who haven't tried it yet but want to know more about all the swimbait hype, and those who have thrown out a shoulder trying to make these things work! Kent is getting together with a couple of anglers in the area for a little talk, a lot of Q&A and some big fish results in the near future:
Preston Henson is a 6th place qualifier in the BASS Southern Opens, pro staffer for Black Dog Baits and Gone Fishin' Marine, and is joining us fresh off an amazing 2nd place finish at the Anglers Choice Pro-Am on Lake Oroville. Swimbaits are his strong suit, and it would be a shame not to avail youself of his talent and expertise!
Russ Graves has made the AOY spot several times over in numerous local trails. He is one of the greatest big bait guys on the very same water you fish year in and year out- you'll learn things you never suspected about the fish in your favorite lake. He caught most of his trophy largemouth and spots using a number of different swimbait techniques- truly a master!

Spring? ALREADY?!
Yes, the air is still a little brisk, but with all the trees blossoming and flowers starting their spring bloom, it's clear, boating season is just about here. How else do we know? The Sacramento Boat and Offroad Extravaganza is in town at Cal Expo! Tomorrow, March 11th through Sunday, March 14th, we have an unbelievably huge display of the best boats to start your family's boating and fishing season off right:
-For the recreationalist, we have pontoons, deckboats, and family runabouts all polished up and ready to hook up to the back of your truck.
-More of a fishin' family? Our Tracker and Lund aluminum deep vees are second to none, and bass boats from Triton and Nitro are on hand for the species specialists.
-Need a good compromise? You'll definitely want to take a seat in the Nitro and Triton sport boats- they ski well, they fish great, and are reasonably priced for the average family.
Bottom line? There's something for everyone!

We have one entry each to be a Marshall at the upcoming BASS Elite Series tournaments on the California Delta and Clear Lake. Both of these tournaments are full and have a waiting list. The Marshall's will have to do the following if they are chosen:
-Attend all Marshall functions including draw and pre tournament meetings held on Wednesday evening. Ride along with one of the Elite Series Pro's on Thursday and Friday. (Marshalls are NOT allowed to fish)
-Be a member of BASS.
The Delta tournament dates are March 11-12.
Clear Lake tournament dates are March 18-19.
We will begin this contest on Thursday, February 25 thru Sunday February 28. We will draw Monday at 12 noon.
You have to sign up in person at Gone Fishin Marine in Dixon. No purchase is necessary!!!!
IN THE EVENT THAT WE ARE UNABLE TO CONTACT YOU BY NOON ON TUESDAY, MARCH 2 AN ALTERNATE WILL BE CHOSEN IN YOUR PLACE.

We're all geared up with a 20+ boat display for the International Sportsmen's Exposition at Cal Expo in Sacramento next week. Show dates are the 21st-24th of January, so be sure to mark your calendar!
Fun stuff going on:
First and foremost, we're going to be there with our boats, our technicians (we're bringing TechTalk back, so come by with your questions!), our pro staff, and some HUGE deals.
For the rest of the show?
We're looking forward to seeing the Ultimate Bass Demo Tank (and hanging out with Nitro Pro Greg Guiterrez and Triton Pros Gary Klein and Kent Brown) and the Saturday Round Table with a number of the nation's biggest pros.
We'll also have a great time skulking around the California Sportsmen's Theatre and hearing what Sep Hendrickson and his cadre of anglers and hunters have to say for this season's activities. Sep will also be laying eyes on his new JetCraft boat for the first time- we'll have the Kleenex handy for that moment!
If they'll let us play, we want to hit the Western Outdoor News kids' corner too- so many activities, so little time. The whole family is guaranteed a GREAT time!!

Tis the season for fishin' freak out- just as we get through the holiday stress, sports show seminars lurk around the corner, and Mike Iaconelli & Co get set take Sacramento by storm with The Bass University in just a couple weeks. That's a lot of bassin'. So we're taking a break from the academics to have a little fun with this month’s Ultimate Bass University!
We’ll still let you in on all the secrets for 2010's new products, and we'll offer some extra help (and discounts) for your Christmas elves. But we plan to have some fun along the way, challenging your fishing prowess, and bestowing gifts and bragging rights on the flipping masters and trivia buffs among you.
Food and merriment are on the agenda; come on down to the shop, bring the kids, bring a buddy, and your A-game to Ultimate Bass University. Play hooky from school with us on Tuesday, December 15th beginning at 6:30PM!!
It's become a little chilly, a lot "breezy," and the first snow has fallen in the Sierra...looks like it's time to prepare for the winter bite. And believe it, there are plenty of fish down there for the taking! This Tuesday, November 17th, Kent Brown is going to help us re-learn everything we forgot from last winter; spoons (just in time for us to pick up the new Blade Runners in the tackle shop), jigs, deep reaction baits and so on.
Also, we're going to get to hear first hand Kent's experience with the new StructureScan offering from Lowrance Electronics. Sure, we're all familiar by now with their HDS units, but the imaging available now is absolutely incredible! That's not to say the standard electroncis on most boats can't take you a long way toward bagging a limit of those deep-dwelling spotted bass- Kent has been at it long enough, he'll be able to tell any of us with any graph technology just how to turn what we have to our best advantage this winter.

Bill picked his boat up from Gone Fishin's rigging department weekend before last, and boy did he have some plans for it already! The fishing was pretty good for the tournament weekend (as the winning pair, Michael Rothstein & Joe Pool can tell you- 40.26lbs over two days), but the comraderie was even better. All those Triton fans in one place really seemed to please Triton president, Earl Bentz, who made a special trip all the way out to Clear Lake just for the event! And everyone enjoyed raising a glass to what they all knew was the best bass boat on the water. It was Gone Fishin's first year participating in the Tournament, and we can't wait for next year's reunion!
